Cindy Wittenberg
ABOUT ME
Cindy Keller Wittenberg began her piano journey at the age of four, under the guidance of her mother, a musician, who taught her to play four-part harmony hymns and songs by ear. From the age of eight, she studied with Merl Freeland, a Juilliard graduate, in Lebanon, PA, for ten years.
She holds a B.S in Music Education with a piano major from Elizabethtown College, Elizabethtown, PA.
She furthered her education at the Peabody Conservatory (Johns Hopkins University/Peabody Institute) in Baltimore, MD, where she earned a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance.
At Peabody Conservatory, she taught keyboard music theory to high school senior piano students in the Peabody Preparatory Department, utilizing a Yamaha 24-piano classroom.
During a summer abroad, Cindy pursued piano studies at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria.
Mrs. Wittenberg taught middle school choral and classroom music at Penn Manor School District in Lancaster County, PA. During her tenure, she expanded the middle school choir to 150 students, simultaneously directing and accompanying them. She instilled a love for singing in her students and inspired them to pursue their musical talents.
With over 40 years of experience, Cindy has instructed Suzuki and traditional piano students in her home studio and at various music institutions. Additionally, she has studied the pipe organ and served as a church organist for several congregations. Her proficiency as a bassoonist earned her positions in District, Regional, and State Bands and Orchestras.
Later in her career, she served as the orchestra pianist with the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra in Lancaster, PA, for a decade.
In addition, Cindy performed monthly as an artist with Center Stage Arts in the Cancer Center and Infusion Therapy wing at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and College of Medicine, Hershey, PA.
Cindy is the pianist, Celtic harpist, composer and an arranger with Silver, Wood & Ivory, a concertizing duo specializing in flutes, recorders, and other unique wind instruments.
Silver, Wood & Ivory frequently hosts concerts at Cindy’s home Lititz, PA area and is regularly featured in concert series programs throughout southeastern Pennsylvania.
Cindy and her husband, Dale, reside in Lititz, PA. They have a son, a daughter-in-law, and four grandchildren.
